For the Camera & in General:  The hidden power of smiling

Capturing a person's genuine smile in a photo is important because it presents their best self. That crinkle around the eye or or that glint of light & life communicates volumes about who that person is.  Here is a very interesting talk given by Ron Gutman on the Hidden power of smiling:

I enjoy capturing wedding day getting ready photos a lot. Not only do I like photographing the interactions between the family members and bridal party but, the actual getting ready process itself. It's a big part of the day, but what I want to talk about today is the final result of all of that work and getting some great images of that result:  A Hair & Beauty Bridal Portrait

We enhanced some nice window light with some light of our own and got this great image of Sheree on her day. We'll do some with the Bridal Bouquet as well.

We also got great image of Dori's hair and veil.

You may ask why we're into the hair and beauty stuff a bit more than other photographers. Well we don't just shoot hair and beauty at weddings.

We wouldn't want to work tethered to a computer with all this equipment and with all of these people at your wedding, but we manage to get it done without them.

Christine was also great. I think I was the first Human to ever ask her for her "mirror face".

Theresa Had this classic Bird Cage Veil that was begging for a few vintage Glam shots to be thrown in along with some more up to date looks.

These Hair and beauty/Glam Shots take us less than 5 minutes to accomplish at most weddings, require a lot less editing than a lot of professionals might think; They look like this in the camera.  Two more commercial images just for fun...

There are a lot reasons to want portraiture at your wedding. Images where people are not being directed by the photographer are essential; They tell a story and they narrate the Wedding, but we want images of our friends and families looking at us as they do when they're with us. That's the simplest reason.

Yes they're having fun. Just having images of everyone looking at each other doesn't replace this. Another reason portraiture is important is that life moves fast.

We're all together Today How often will all of your friends be able to get together like this? What will this be worth in 10 years? What about the guys? How often to they put on a "Tux"? We look cool huhuh

If you're going to wear a Tux, you might want to try to pose for a Photo. Come to think of it, If you're going to marry a handsome guy or a beautiful girl, you might want a dreamy fine art black & white portrait that you happen to be in.
